Qabbalistic digressions

Anagrams have always intrigued qabbalists due to their automatic numerical consistency.
When semantic and numerical consistency fuse, the result is true coincidence engineering.
Some great examples at The Queen of All Evil.

How about:
DESPERATION = A ROPE ENDS IT

(for light 'relief' check out 'PRESIDENT CLINTON OF THE US' too)

IFGU - But anagrams are interesting, aren't they?

Actually Nick Fugue Pig VI, you can do all sorts of interesting thngs with anagrams (and acrostics) apart from winning Countdown. Whether that's due to their numerical consistency I'm not really sure, but there is a long tradition of their use in magic. Now it may or may not be bollocks, but you can hardly deny that it's interesting; not least, if you want to drag everything back to the realsm of respectability, because vast quantities of poetry and religious writings are saturated in these procedures.

Anyone starting from qabbalistic practice finds the question of anagrams coming up inevitably, since clearly almost any imaginable gematria will allocate identical numerical values to anagrammatic terms (there are exceptions, but only with extremely arcane methods). Of course, qabbala calls out to be dismissed wholesale as bullshit, that's why it has such extreme hyperstitional intensity (invoking unbelief).

johneffay - missed your post in passing - in fact, haven't even done the sums on GILES BRANDRETH yet ;)
BTW, COUNTDOWN = 210, it's my favourite qabbalistic miracle right now

I believe you were sacked from Wernham Hogg through no fault of your own?
