I am with useless clumsy sidekicks

Infinite Thought kindly passed her superhero meme to me; I was trying to convince myself to give a satisfying answer but I couldn’t:

Asian, Black and Latin people have no need for superheroes; compared to complex hyperstitional maps and polytical dynamics operating here, I have always found these superheroes so naïve, self-indulgent and full of adult fantasies and concerns; so no superhero meme for me either. But this doesn’t mean I can’t choose and name a few heroes for fun or I have sympathy for ‘Anti-superhero superheroes’ of such writers like Alan Moore, Frank Miller or Warren Ellis, or I don't like comics (not blind to their potencies).

I don’t want to live as a superhero, I want to die as a Siahi Lashkar [1].

Anyway, thanks very much for the superhero meme and sorry for the disappointing and crude answer.

[1] Well, find the meaning.

PS. Sorry for not answering emails or comments; my internet connection has become very limited and unstable. I hope it returns to normal condition very soon.

PPS. IT: "and reza from hyperstition, just because." - just because?

Posted by: Reza at June 10, 2005 03:49 AM

no. what does Siahi Lashkar mean?

Posted by: northanger at June 10, 2005 04:45 AM

'Just because' - curiosity! Turns out, tho, that asking you and northanger caused rather more trauma to the both of you than I had envisaged...

teazer from recent 'cabinet' article:

According to Dali biographer Ian Gibson, one writer concluded, on visiting Cape Creus, "that Dali could only be fully understood if one took into account this extraordinary landscape that had shaped his thinking."

An instructive phrase: "That had shaped his thinking." It makes us wonder: Which came first, the neurotic or the rocks? Do landscapes touch off sympathetic vibrations inside us because they resonate with childhood experiences, remembered or not? Dali once observed that his "mental landscape" resembled "the protean and fantastic rocks of Cape Creus." Did the vaginal clefts, phallic spurs, and fecal blobs of its tortured, metamorphic rocks mirror his sexual psyche, a battleground of (barely) repressed homosexuality, ravenous orality, and shameful anality? Or was Dali, in some weird way, shaped by the landscape he grew up in? The Situationists coined the term "psychogeography" to describe "the study of the precise laws and specific effects of the geographical environment, consciously organized or not, on the emotions and behavior of individuals." Is there a psychogeology—a study of the psychological effects of the rock formations we grew up around? Are there igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic personalities? Is there a stratigraphy of the soul, a petrology of the psyche?

IT,

trauma?!!!! are you kidding? i actually enjoy reading superheroes comics. Anyway, thanks again for passing the meme ... personally, i like it to pass this superhero meme to Undercurrent (hope he/it reads this comment).

Northanger,

sometimes finding the meaning of each word and then assembling them together is not a good idea. no, it doesn't mean black army or similar things although Siah (is black) and Lashkar is Army, battalion ;)

You are so lucky, northanger ... H.'s birthday is near and i don't want to ruin it by sending the Ninja hackers after you! (by the way, normal internet connection will be back until Monday ... will try to post a pathetic piece)

Posted by: Reza at June 10, 2005 03:15 PM

"Ninja hackers". they showed up anyway. thanks.

"Asian, Black and Latin people have no need for superheroes..."

That's an inane statement. Have you ever been to a comic store in a black city? Lots of blacks read superhero comics.... Wu-Tang clan, manga, luchadors wrestlers... it's all superheroes.
